A Simple Recipe For Homemade Toilet Cleaner

A clean toilet is something we all strive to have. The chemical cleaners sold in the shops can be pricey and they contain chemicals. It is possible to have a sparkling clean toilet using homemade simple ingredients (DIY). Here are recipes for making a powder and a gel.

Powder Cleaner

Ingredients

1 cup baking powder

10 drops of your choice of essential oil * this is optional and based on your preference

Vinegar

Mix the baking soda and essential oil until well mixed. Note that the vinegar will be applied separately.

To Use

Turn off the water to the toilet and drain the bowl. Sprinkle the powder mixture and pour vinegar over it in order to activate and saturate it. Let it sit for 15mins. Scrub well with a toilet brush and turn the water back on and flush.

Gel Cleaner

Ingredients

1 cup water

1 cup vinegar

2 teaspoon glycerin

1 teaspoon xanthan gum (or substitute like chia seeds soaked in water to make a gel)

15 drops of your preferred essential oil

Mix well and store in a spray bottle

To Use: Spray under the rim and around the bowl of the toilet. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then scrub with a brush and flush
